Fewster Falls

Arriving in Pittsburgh with a Got Soccer ranking of #3 in the nation, Fewster has long been admired by the North United "uber" as a consistently top team.  It has been typical that will competing in Top Tournaments in the country the Fewster team seemed to always be competing several divisions above the NU u15 boys and they had not met in competition since the u9 season.  Anyone saying there was not a degree of trepidation was not being honest with themselves.

The 1st game started with a bit of chaos but a strong defense kept the game knotted at 0-0.  Ten minutes into the game you could feel the boys gaining confidence as they started to take shape and control putting together some offensive runs.  By the end of the first half there was a discovery that the Fewster Giant was not invincible.  Perhaps overconfident the goalie was consistently coming out of goal which did not go unnoticed.  On a breakaway opportunity, the net minder was caught to far from home and Josh Luchni made him pay with a perfect chip that dribbled into the back of the net with the goalie laying on the ground watching painfully.  This was the deciding moment of the day with North United Premier '99 walking away the victors.

The following morning a rematch took place a La Roche College's soccer facility, a beautiful, new turf field on campus.  With the element of "hero worship" out of the way, NU came out with a new confidence on a brisk, sunny morning.  Much the opposite could be said for the Fewster team, while playing technically sound they failed to match the intensity of the Red & Black.  With goals from Josh, Ian and Louie the rout was underway.  Grant Glorioso proved to be impenetrable rock frustrating the scoring chances Fewster was able to muster.  The bench provided significant contributions without a drop in play that had Team Fewster baffled.  The final whistle came after a meaningless PK ending the game 3-1 in favor of NU.
